Picasso Surfaces Quartz Worktop Care & Maintenance

Picasso Surfaces Quartz worktops are beautiful, durable and easy to maintain with the right care. By following a few simple steps, your worksurface will stay looking its best for years to come.

Daily Cleaning

For everyday cleaning, wipe the surface with warm water, mild washing-up liquid or a pH-neutral cleaner, using a soft microfibre cloth or non-abrasive sponge. Quartz-specific cleaners are also widely available and can be used to help maintain a clean, streak-free finish. After cleaning, rinse with clean water where needed and dry with a soft cloth or paper towel. Drying the surface helps prevent water marks, soap residue and limescale build-up, especially in hard-water areas.

Spills & Stains

Quartz is non-porous and resistant to many common household spills, but it is still best to clean spills as soon as possible. Wipe away tea, coffee, wine, fruit juice, sauces, oils and acidic liquids promptly with warm soapy water or Quartz cleaning spray. For dried-on residue, gently loosen the mark with a non-scratch pad, then clean and dry the area. Avoid leaving strong-coloured substances on the surface for long periods, including turmeric, red wine, food colouring, permanent marker, nail varnish or dyes.

Heat Protection

Quartz is durable, but direct or sudden heat can damage the surface. Always use a trivet, heat mat or pan stand under hot pans, baking trays, slow cookers, air fryers, and other heated appliances. Do not place hot cookware directly onto the quartz worktop.

Cutting & Scratching

Quartz is scratch resistant, but not scratch proof. Always use a chopping board when preparing food.

Avoid cutting directly on the surface, as this may mark the worktop and will also blunt your knives.

Products to Avoid

To protect the finish of your quartz worktop, avoid using bleach, oven cleaner, drain cleaner, paint stripper, abrasive powders, steel wool, scouring pads, harsh chemicals or strong acidic/alkaline products. Always use products that are suitable for quartz surfaces and follow the instructions on the label.

Limescale & Water Marks

In hard-water areas, limescale can build up around sinks, taps and draining grooves. To reduce this, wipe away standing water and dry the surface after use. For stubborn limescale, use a quartz-safe limescale remover and rinse thoroughly with clean water afterwards.

Long-Term Care

Quartz worktops do not need sealing, polishing or specialist daily treatment. Simple, regular care is usually all that is required. Clean little and often, wipe spills promptly, use chopping boards, protect the surface from heat and avoid harsh or abrasive cleaning products.
